Ridom EpiMRSA is an integral part of the EUREGIO MRSA-net project strategy to prevent, monitor and decontaminate methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). The software is storing and managing hospital case data, creating surveillance reports and detecting possible outbreaks (Euro Surveill., Aug 28, 2008 [PubMed]). The software is available in English, German, and Dutch.

An online geographic information system server and early warning systems based on Z-Score statistics and spatio-temporal cluster analysis of current and historical spa-typing data enhances this strategy.

Because of the success of the EUREGIO MRSA-net in establishing regional and local measures against MRSA, the Robert Koch Institute and the German Ministry of Health considers this project as a prototype for regional networks dealing with infectious disease issues.
